Company: payworks GmbH
POS payment platform provider payworks GmbH created a brandable, customizable mobile POS solution. Founded in 2012 by David Bellem, Christian Deger, Simon Eumes and Johannes Lechner, the company officially launched the payworks platform in the summer of 2014, and the platform has been widely deployed in the United States, Europe and Africa, the Munich, Germany-based company stated.
Acquirers, ISOs and independent software vendors (ISVs) can integrate payworks into existing applications or use the payworks software development kit (SDK) to create a customized mobile POS user interface. Both stand-alone and integrated payworks mobile applications are Europay, MasterCard, and Visa (EMV) compliant, with web-based dashboards that support chip and PIN readers. Supported card readers include the Miura Systems Shuttle 006, M007 and M010 and Verifone PAYware Mobile e105, e315 and 335, the company stated.
"It is exciting to see mPOS solutions in more and more integrated settings where traditional terminals would have been used previously," said Christian Deger, payworks co-founder and Chief Executive Officer. He added that opening up to integrators "allows our clients to be part of this big movement with minimum effort."
The payworks white-label SDK enables resellers to deploy branded mobile payment solutions that are integrated with third-party apps and cashier systems, payworks noted. Software developers and cashier system providers can use the SDK in combination with the white-label payworks app and within their own proprietary payment solutions.
German acquirer ConCardis GmbH used the payworks SDK to integrate the mobile payments app into its ConCardis OptiPay product. The branded solution has been widely deployed in retail, restaurant and hospitality settings, payworks noted. ConCardis, payworks and participating merchant services providers expect the solution to continue to open new vertical markets worldwide.
Acquirers can brand and integrate payworks' mPOS solution into their native software applications. An open source PayButton, optimized for smartphones and tablets, provides a simple user interface that works with payworks-supported card readers. The app supports EMV transactions, signature capture and electronic receipt transmittal, according to payworks.
ISOs can deploy a branded payworks mobile app paired with a smartphone and chip and PIN reader. Merchants can use the app to accept payments, browse transaction history, issue refunds and manage electronic receipts by accessing a web-based merchant dashboard from their desktop computers, tablets and smartphones.
The payworks application and platform is designed to simplify integration with a range of software and hardware for select channel partners and resellers. The platform works on all operating systems and has been certified with most major payment processors, payworks stated.
The payment platform, which supports cross-border payments across multiple locations, is not dependent upon a single acquirer or processor. Its acquirer-agnostic status is designed to give resellers and merchants the flexibility to upgrade software and navigate processing software platforms.
Complex EMV payment schemes are incorporated into payworks' API library, simplifying implementation and delivering a certified EMV-compliant solution. All payworks solutions use the pre-certified payworks SDK, which is compliant with card payment scheme regulations and is ready for immediate payment acceptance. In addition, the payworks gateway meets all EMV and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard requirements. It is compatible with Windows, iOS and Android operating systems, the company added.
In addition, payworks reported that its POS platform enables merchant services providers and ISVs to build payment functionality into mobile payment applications. The software supports EMV-compliant, card-present transactions and consumer-initiated, in-app smartphone and mobile wallet payments. The platform's software-as-a-service model is configured to help clients quickly and cost-efficiently enter the market and manage their mPOS solutions at scale.
As mPOS solutions gain worldwide adoption, merchant service providers require flexible, scalable mobile technology architecture to address the requirements of their merchant customers. The payworks platform is designed to help ISOs, acquirers, software developers and ISVs integrate payment functionality into their mobile POS solutions.
